Our practice > History
The Weedon name has been synonymous with architecture since 1912 when the late Harry Weedon founded the practice. Post WW I a variety of projects in Housing, Commercial and Industrial Development quickly guaranteed the growth of the practice.
A factory in Birmingham for Deutsch and Brenner was historically the most important, as it led to the design of one of the first cinemas for entrepreneur Oscar Deutsch. This project was the beginning of the well known Odeon house style -“Oscar Deutsch Entertains Our Nation”. Weedons were involved in the design and construction of over 250 Odeon Cinemas.
Projects for Manufacturing and Industrial clients including the British Motor Corporation at Longbridge and Cowley. Continued success was established.
Today Weedon Architects llp is a successful award winning 21st Century practice. In 2012 the Practice moved to new offices at Harrys Yard, Newhall St, Birmingham to continue its successful history for the next 100 years!
